Native America, A Ripe Harvest Field
Oh what a forgotten and neglected mission field Native America has been! Suicide, drinking, domestic violence, and drug use skyrocket on reservations. Hundreds of native villages and reservations across North America have no gospel work among them. Out of the 5.1 million Native Americans, only 2-4% profess faith in Christ. The Lord reminds us,
“…behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” – John 4:35
Native America, A Forgotten Samaria
Could it be that God plans to save a multitude in Native America just as he did in forgotten Samaria? The Samaritans were outcast, forgotten, and neglected by the Jews. Yet the Lord Jesus reaped a great harvest of souls among them (John 4:39–41). So did Philip the Evangelist later (Acts 8:5– 8).
Pray the Lord of the Harvest
Missionaries are laboring faithfully year after year even in difficult conditions. Young converts often face strong opposition. Dear friend, would you pray that God would continually strengthen them, give a great harvest, and raise up native pastors to carry on the work?
“…The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:36-37
